Takeover Recorings comensces it's winter campaign with the release of Black Sea Project's long awaited second album, "Passage".
Based on loops and sequences sent by Stephen Rennicks ( drexciyaresearchlab, author of Wire's Drexciya Primer) to thatboytim, and structured to tracks over a two year period, "Passage" draws on a dark palette of influence, including electro, dub, hiphop,EBM, and techno, influenced by the dancefloor, but not necessarily for it.
The album will be available for a 2 week period on Bandcamp.com for free/donation download.
As we enter 2011 we release Ed Devane's colossal "Room Full of Empty People" on 5th Jan. A raw yet intricately crafted selections of shuddering rhythmic bursts, chunks of sound hurled with abandon, and tangled high end chaos. A thoroughly enjoyable and visceral piece of rhythmic fuckery from a truly inspirational artist, whose work ranges from experimental noise/improv/installations, to hi-tech rhythmic pieces on labels such as Touchin' Bass, Mantrap, and Kaboogie.
We hope to make the final push out of winter with two E.P.s from Sunil Sharpe and Rob Murphy(with remixes from Fran Harnett and Rory St. John), taking in a range of beat strategies for your feet and for your poor minds.
After the success of Defekt's "Stimulus" album and 12", a 12" of Modular System with remixes is due out early 2011. Stay tuned for further details.
2011 will also see a debut album from the ever productive Rob Murphy, and a compilation album celebrating 10 years (+ a bit) of Takeover. The album will feature the best of the original takeover 12"s, and a collection of exclusive tracks from artists who have worked with us over the past decade.
Big up to Simon Hayes aka Swarm Intelligence (stasis recordings) for putting this together. Jam packed with releases from Stasis, takeover,Mantrap,Second square to none, from artists such as ed devane, rory st john, defekt, eomac, and loads more.
